Festival update in response to enquiries

Friday June 1, 2012

We’ve had some questions sent to us through Twitter and Facebook. In response to this, we have prepared an update for festival-goers.

Sponsorship has been thin on the ground given the current economic climate and we have experienced increased infrastructure costs.  The West End Festival Board took the decision not to organise a parade this year, as we didn't want to jeopardise the future of the Festival. We do hope that we will be able to bring it back next year, especially as we’ve had such fantastic support from many people, demonstrating their keenness to potentially get involved next year.

We have over 400 organised events taking place from 1-24 June, many of them free. Our opening weekend event, called Wonderland, is new to the Festival and will be targeted at families as a free event. Gibson Street Gala and the o2 Glasgow Mela also remain popular and they have a big community focus.
