Tuesday 19th June
Fancy learning a new language or further exploring parts of the West End? Then today’s events are for you! Then round off the evening with some country, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll with Mary Jean Lewis!
- Woodlands/ South Woodside
Join Kenneth Burns in a visit to Woodlands, at the very threshold of the west end, an urban architectural and community delight, and one of the city’s most coherent enclaves of tenement streets. This wedge-shaped neighbourhood has it all, from fine churches, institutions and schools, to villas, flats and farm cottages. 7pm
- Free Language Tasters
Come along and try your hand at learning Spanish, Italian or Gaelic! The emphasis is on listening and speaking to give you confidence to learn more. One hour Italian classes: 11am, Spanish classes: 12:30pm. Centre for Open Studies, University of Glasgow, St Andrews Building.
- Mary Jean Lewis
Join us for a set of country, rockabilly and good old fashioned rock and roll with Mary Jean Lewis – niece of the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis. 8pm, Brel, Ashton Lane
