Peter MacCalman, Acoustic Affair director, comments:
The Acoustic Affair is looking forward to another year at the West End Festival. We have been working hard to pull this together and are proud of the line-up.
The programme as a whole will attract, and is suitable for, a wide age range; 14-70+. Each event is a different style of music so what you choose to come along to will depend on personal taste.
However, we will say, anyone interested in good music from a variety of well respected and established artists, as well as the chance to listen to some exciting, breaking sounds, should take the time to try and listen to as many involved as possible!
The Oran Mor basement and the upstairs Auditorium are both excellent, stunningly restored west end venues to enjoy a live experience. The Cottiers is also a beautifully restored building and has an amazing, intimate feel, which is perfect for the artists we are representing there.
Our programme provides a chance to listen to artists you've grown up with or ride along on the excitement of hearing something new, but amazing, for the first time.
This year, we have added the lovely Arlington Baths to our programme and, the programme in general is more developed, with an impressive range of musical styles. We feel it represents, quite simply, fantastic artists from across Scotland, the Gaelic tradition, and the UK.
I think it is good to celebrate the Glasgow’s west end in general and display to residents as much as visitors, the best aspects of life here. I have lived for a decade in Kelvinbridge and have had a fondness for the whole area for much longer than that.
While we promote music in the Oran Mor and Cottiers all year round, there is special vibe this time of year when we come together to be part of the programmes at both venues. We have developed a great relationship with both and look forward to being part of the West End Festival for many years to come!
