The Kids Are Alright!

Thursday May 31, 2012

The Grosvenor Cafe launch their programme of events for kids at the West End Festival:

"Kids events at The Grosvenor Café are suitable for all ages and a great opportunity to get the kids doing something a bit different, using their imaginations and getting creative. What’s more parents can take a bit of time out to relax with some great food and drink from our new summer menus, while the kids try their hand at pottery, cookery and all sorts!

"Most people know The Grosvenor Café as simply a bar-restaurant and have no idea about the evening classes and kids’ activities that we run as well. These events are a chance for us to show people what else we do. Change your opinion on The Café!

"We’ve actually brought back a few of the popular entertainers and workshops from last year, but we’re hoping that 2012 will see each of them being even more successful and popular than last time. We’ve definitely upped our game and are really excited about our programme of events for all the family.

"For us, nothing says “Summer in Glasgow” like the West End festival. It’s great to be part of such an established tradition, especially as it goes from strength to strength with each passing year. We love the energy that takes over the city during the month of June, as native and adoptive Glaswegians get out and about and try new things. We’ll definitely be checking out other venues’ events and embarking on a walk or two as well!

The Kids Are Alright!

Throughout the West End Festival, The Grosvenor Café on Ashton Lane will be putting on a great range of entertainment for the little ones. In addition to the usual free face painting every Saturday and Sunday from 1-4pm, they have some great creative events lined up for the kids. Read on for further details!

Pottery Workshop

Sunday 10th June // Saturday 16th June, 12-1pm
Louise McVey invites the young team to get their hands dirty and give ceramics a go!

£2 per fledgling potter.

Puppet-making Workshop

Sunday 17th June, 1-4pm

Between 1 and 4pm, the West End’s own Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre host a very special puppet-making workshop. Face painters are also on hand and, as always, our fancy dress box is heaving with toys and costumes, leaving you free to enjoy a relaxing lunch, while the kids get creative.

FREE EVENT for all ages.

Pizza & Cupcake Workshop

Wednesday 20th June

Kids design and prepare their own pizzas, which are then taken away to be cooked. This leaves just enough time to decorate their own cupcakes before the pizza is done and they can enjoy it in the restaurant.

£5 per little chef.

Pyjama Drama

Saturday 23rd June, 2pm // 2.45pm

Sing, dance, pretend, play; where will our imagination take us today?

Raise the flag, grab your sea legs and help Pirate Peter find the dastardly gang who has kidnapped his beloved parrot. A special session combining drama, music, movement and play, where children’s imaginations take the starring role! Parents stay and join in the fun too!

FREE EVENT for Older Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers.

Bumble Tree: Cabaret for Kids!  (+Balloon Art!)

Sunday 24th June, 2pm

An afternoon of family friendly fun times from some great children’s entertainers. Kids and parents alike are encouraged to get up and do a turn. Whether you choose to sing, dance or juggle for your supper is up to you! And by supper, we mean ice cream. Go online to get the inside scoop.

FREE EVENT for all ages.
