We're going to be introducing you to some of the people behind the organisation of the West End Festival.
Name: Susie McGuinness
Role: Volunteer - helping with admin and live social media
Time working with WEF: About a month!
- What is your earliest memory of the West End Festival
I remember being hoisted up on my dad’s shoulders to watch some belly dancers in the park when I was about five, I’d never seen anything like it!
- Why do you think the West End Festival is so important to Glasgow?
I think it’s brilliant to have a festival programme that’s a mix of traditional theatre, music and arts events, but also with so many free outdoor events that people can just stumble across and get involved with!
- What are your top tips for choosing events to attend?
Try and get your hands on a programme! They’re dotted around the west end and it’s a super quick way to get an overview of what’s happening. The website is also great for filtering by event type which makes it super easy to find something you fancy.
- What is the ONE event you’re looking forward to this year?
I’m buzzing for the outdoor ceilidh in Vinicombe Street- it’s practically on my doorstep and if last year’s ceilidhs are anything to go by; it’s bound to be a laugh.
- Describe WEF in one sentence
